Chantry Model Club

Chantry Model Club was originally formed in 1988 based in Gravesend where many of the original members lived.

The club moved to Bluewater in 2000 where we have the use of the superb lake facilities located beside the Village car park.

As a club our aim is to promote the hobby of model boat building and provide the facility to bring together like minded people, of all ages, to enjoy building, sailing and participating in the social activates that this hobby provides.

We sail 3 days per week:

  • Wednesday 10.00am 3.00pm at the latest
  • Saturday 10.00am 3.00pm at the latest
  • Sunday 9.30am 12.00noon at the latest

The actual sailing times are always dependent on the prevailing weather conditions and the availability of authorised club members being on hand to supervise the session.

Within the club we cover the full spectrum of boat types from working sailboats and yachts to electric and steam powered craft such as tugs, battleships, fishing boats, cargo vessels, liners and submarines etc. The only exception is that we do not allow the running of I/C powered boats.

The lake is not suitable for these type of craft and would be detrimental to the local environment and wildlife. We have a very active events calendar for our lake at Bluewater, as well as attending and exhibiting at many model boat shows and regattas, predominately, around the south and south east of the country.
