Bluewater Sets Standards With Its Code Of Conduct
Bluewater has drawn up a Code of Conduct designed to ensure the Kent destination is a pleasant environment for visitors.
It outlines the behaviour required and Bluewater's zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour. The code was drawn up following a series of workshops with Bluewater guests and staff.
Participants were invited to comment on what measures they felt would maintain a pleasant experience for everyone who visits and works in the centre. Intimidating behaviour by groups or individuals, anti-social behaviour including swearing, and wearing clothing which deliberately obscures the face / head*(e.g. hooded tops or baseball caps), are among the guidelines detailed in the code.
It also reminds all visitors to the centre that Bluewater is a non-smoking environment and no leafleting, canvassing or surveys can take place on the malls.
Bluewater Portfolio Manager, Mathew Clements, comments: “Ensuring that Bluewater is a safe and pleasant environment for our guests is of paramount importance to us. We continue to work with our retailers, guests and partners such as Kent Police to ensure that this is maintained at all times.”
The Code of Conduct has been endorsed by Kent County Constabulary which operates Bluewater's dedicated on-site police station. North Kent Supt Martin Hewitt comments: “Bluewater has a deserved reputation for its pleasant and safe environment. By clearly setting acceptable standards of behaviour, this code will allow staff and police officers to work together in maintaining the quality of experience for guests"
The Code of Conduct is displayed throughout Bluewater and copies of the guide are available for visitors at Concierge desks and information points in the centre.
