Bluewater can offer many young people a wide range of 'work experience' opportunities for their personal and professional development, as a prelude to their working life.

Areas of work at Bluewater include retail, business, catering, engineering, landscape gardening and childcare, which can help broaden local school students' awareness of potential career opportunities.

Hundreds of local students have benefited from work experience placements at Bluewater since it opened.

Excellent Opportunities

The Learning Shop at Bluewater offers an excellent range of training and development opportunities available to the local community and businesses, as well as Guests and employees of Bluewater.

Our programmes are designed to help individuals achieve their learning goals in a practical, interesting and stimulating way.

Learndirect

Learndirect, the UfI brand, is a great way to get into on-line learning.

Learners can choose from a range of bite-sized chunks of learning that can be accessed at a time and place to suit work and social commitments.

ICT Programmes

There are ICT programmes for the absolute beginner or for the more experienced computer user.

If you want to improve your business skills, you can choose a professional qualification in a management or marketing area, learn a new language or enjoy some leisure learning.

Literacy or Numeracy Skills

The Learning Shop can also provide help for learners who would like to improve their literacy or numeracy skills - we provide free guidance and support in a helpful and caring environment.

Individual Learning Account Applying for an Individual Learning Account (ILA) can help towards the cost of learning - ILAs are a government initiative to attract everyone back into learning.

The Learning Shop offers free training for under 25-year olds who meet specific criteria and who are employed or in work placements. To date hundreds of Guests have used The Learning Shop to start their learning. We welcome all ages and abilities.
