Access and Mobility

 

Bluewater was built to exacting standards to meet the needs of our guests with disabilities, and the services that we provide on a day to day basis aim to ensure that all our visitors are able to enjoy a great day out with us.

 

Guest Facilities

 

Car parking

 

We have over 300 reserved parking spaces for guests with disabilities, these are all located close to the entrances throughout the many car parks.

 

Free Mobility services

 

Bluewater has a specialist service Shop Mobility Scheme operated by UK Mobility Services. UK Mobility is situated within our yellow welcome hall between Marks and Spencer and House of Fraser.  Shop Mobility provides free use of electric scooters, powered wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs to our guests with disabilities, so long as you book in advance.   The store also sells mobility equipment for use both at Bluewater or in the home. 

 

To book the use of mobility equipment, please call Shop Mobility at least 48 hours in advance on 01322 427427, (availability can not be guaranteed if not pre-booked).  On your first visit please bring along with you two forms of identity, one of which will need to have a printed name and address.
 
Sessions for hiring equipment:

 

Scooters, 9am - 1.30pm or 2pm - 4pm or 4pm - 8pm

Wheelchairs, 9am - 2.30pm or 3pm - 8pm, Sundays - 11am - 4pm

 

Returning after the end of a session will result in a £5 per hour or part hour charge.  The latest time of return is 8pm, Monday - Saturday and 4pm or Sunday.

 

There are no hires to go out after 6pm Monday-Saturday or after 2pm on Sundays.   Reservations will be held for one hour after the time of booking.  After that time equipment will be released unless we have been informed otherwise.

 

Please note that customers must be 18 or over to hire powered equipment and that we will not be able to hire powered equipment to anybody who is partially sighted or subject to seizures.

 

Guests are advised to park in the Yellow Car Park for ease of access to Shop Mobility.

 

Other services

 

  • There are many lifts throughout Bluewater for access to different levels.
  • Bluewater has a number of toilets for those with disabilities throughout the centre including an award winning high dependency unit located in the village (access to this is provided by contacting the Concierge team for an access fob, however frequent users can apply for a fob of their own by writing to the Operations Team at Bluewater Management).
  • Our Concierge team are always happy to help make your stay at Bluewater as enjoyable as possible. Please contact them if you need any additional help.
