On The Run

As part of Bluewater’s 10th Anniversary celebrations, the centre hosted its annual SheRunsHeRuns 10k race sponsored by Adidas on Sunday 14th June.  With 2800 participants, compared to 2400 in 2008, the race proved a big success.

The 10k race was started by the newly appointed Mayor of Dartford Councillor Jennifer Rickwood who was delighted to support this event which raises funds for the Mayor’s charities. A number of Community groups were also involved in the day with the Sea Cadets providing marshalling, Delmelza House and Kent Wildlife Trust both erecting stands to highlight their organisations and raise money.

In addition to the 10K race there was a 2K event that proved very popular with fun runners and families.

Every race participant received a medal and a goodie bag which included a number of products from Bluewater’s retailers and six of whom took selling space in the race village during the event.

Many Bluewater staff and retailers entered the race including Andrew Parkinson the General Manager who said: “I am absolutely delighted to see so many people enjoying themselves at Bluewater today. It is events like this that cement our position at the very heart of the local community”.
