Bluewater is launching the 2008 summer style season with a glamorous British seaside theme.

Bluewater will be celebrating the latest hot Summer style trends through the style icon that is…… the great British beach hut.

This colourful seaside display will kick off on Friday 2nd May with an exclusive celebrity style exhibition in the Guild Hall.

To help you put your new wardrobe together, we've asked three fashion-savvy celebrities to design a beach hut to reflect the three hottest trends for summer 2008: Peaches Geldof is ‘Flying the Flag', Jasmine Guinness is exploring ‘Out of Africa' and Strictly Come Dancing star Alesha Dixon will be promoting ‘Petal Power.'

First up is style-setter Peaches Geldof, who is ‘flying the flag' using this season's key patterns of stars and stripes. Variations of all three were shown on the catwalks of Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Chanel and YSL. A sneak peek at her early designs suggests that a striking creation is in the pipeline, not that you'd expect anything else from this talented young journalist and TV presenter. Says Peaches: “I think the overall theme is really cool – beach huts are quintessentially English, but the stars and stripes give everything a really modern twist. I can't wait to see my design completed; it's very exciting!”

‘Out of Africa' is the theme chosen by supermodel Jasmine Guinness. Ethnic and safari shades dominated the Spring and Summer shows of Diane Von Furstenberg, Etro and Marni, and Jasmine has interpreted this trend beautifully for her beach hut. Muted, earthy colours, batik-style prints and natural materials feature heavily, say those ‘in the know'.

Jasmine is delighted that the celebrity huts will eventually be auctioned off for her charity, Clothesline, which raises money to help HIV and AIDS suffers in Africa. “I created Clothesline to ensure all the money raised goes directly towards helping people, so obviously I'm delighted to be involved in this project. My beach hut perfectly reflects the cause that Clothesline was set up to help and I hope it will inspire charitable acts as well as fantastic fashion ideas.”

Strictly Come Dancing star Alesha Dixon chose 'Petal Power' as her theme. Floral was big news from designers for Spring/ Summer 08. Wheather delicate or bold, printed or applique, the catwalks of Gucci, Balenciago, Roberto Cavalli and Luella all bordered on the herbaceous.

In addition to our celebrity beach huts, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer will have their own custom-designed versions on the roundabouts outside Bluewater, and there'll also be beach huts dotted around the Centre selling everything from arts and crafts to jewellery and home accessories.
