Community projects

The Giving Tree at Bluewater has been running for more than ten years now, and we are delighted to confirm that in our 2023 appeal, our guests donated about 7,000 presents with an estimated value of £104,895, as well as donating £6112.50 via Tap & Go to be shared between 35 charities supporting disadvantaged children across Kent and the South East.

Bluewater supports The Poppy Appeal each year by providing space in the mall for The Poppy Shop and for volunteers to sell paper poppies and merchandise. In 2023, a huge £151,018 was raised at Bluewater.

We continue to support The Bluewater Chaplaincy Team with the Chaplains to support local food banks.

Through The Learning Shop we provide employment training opportunities for the unemployed and those returning to work.

We are very proud to support our local hospital, Darent Valley Hospital, whenever we can, giving donations from our children’s events to this charity

The Community Forum

The Community Forum was started before the construction of Bluewater began, to share views and concerns with our neighbours. Since opening, forums have continued with bi-monthly meetings held at Bluewater with representatives from Residents Associations and local groups including the Racial Equality Council, Council for Voluntary Service and the police.

This group creates a stronger communication network across the community, informing – and sometimes influencing – developments in the wider area of Kent Thameside on behalf of residents.

For more information or to become involved in The Community Forum, please contact Bluewater Management on 01322 475475.

Chantry Model Club

Chantry Model Club was formed in 1988 in Gravesend. The club moved to Bluewater in 2000, where they have the use of the superb lake facilities located beside the Village Car Park.

The aim of the club is to promote the hobby of model boat building and provide the facility to bring together like-minded people of all ages to enjoy building, sailing and socialising.

The club sails three days a week:

DAY TIME
Wednesday 10am - 3pm at the latest
Saturday 10am - 3pm at the latest
Sunday 9am - 12pm at the latest

The actual sailing times are dependent on weather conditions and the availability of authorised club members to supervise the sessions.

The club covers the full spectrum of boat types, from working sailboats and yachts to electric and steam powered craft such as tugs, battleships, fishing boats, cargo vessels, liners and submarines.

Please note: I/C power boats are not allowed to run as the lake is not suitable for these types of craft and they would be detrimental to the local environment and wildlife.
