Join the bear hunt this summer
Summer fun for families
Swish, splash and squelch your way through a fun-filled adventure inspired by the beloved children’s classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
This summer, join the adventure as We're Going on a Bear Hunt comes to life across Dartford and Bluewater.
From 17th July to 13th September, discover 31 stunning large Bear sculptures inspired by the beloved children's classic, creating a free public art trail through Dartford's streets, parks, open spaces, and Bluewater. Designed by talented local and national artists, each sculpture is uniquely decorated, making every stop along the trail a new surprise.
Alongside the large Bears, you'll also find more than 50 Bear Cubs, beautifully decorated by local schools and community groups. These smaller sculptures can be spotted in indoor locations including museums, libraries, storefronts, and right here at Bluewater, making it easy for the whole family to get involved.
Led by hospice charity ellenor in partnership with Dartford Borough Council and supported by Bluewater, the trail celebrates creativity, community, and the incredible work ellenor does to support families facing life's challenges.
The story’s famous mantra, ”We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it, we’ve got to go through it!” perfectly reflects ellenor’s mission. Just as the family in the book faces obstacles together, ellenor supports families through life’s challenges.
The magic lives on
Along the trail, meet Magic Ken, a special giant bear celebrating the life of much-loved former Events Manager Ken Francis. Created in partnership with local hospice charity ellenor, the sculpture was inspired by Ken's warmth, humour and love of magic, the bear will help raise vital funds for local hospice care before remaining at Bluewater as a lasting tribute to a true community favourite.
